Captain Natalia J. West

Natalia began her Starfleet career as an Ensign aboard the USS Laffey, a Miranda-class light cruiser. She served her first year as a Yeoman and spent the next few years as a security tactical officer. The Laffey saw some action during the Klingon-Federation War patrolling the Vulcan sector down to the Drozana sector along the boundaries. When Natalia was 20, the Laffey retired and she was reassigned.

Lieutenant West served on the USS Javelin as a security officer as the war was coming to a close. Javelin, a retrofitted Constitution-class, spent time aiding New Romulus and later patrolled the interior of the Solanae Dyson Sphere. Though a new conflict was brewing in the Delta Quadrant, and Natalia was among many to be reassigned to a newly developed line of battlecruisers.

Lieutenant Commander Natalia was transfered to the new Arbiter-class Battlecruiser Repulse in response to the growing threat of the Vaudwaar. The Repulse engaged in numerous skirmishes with the Vadwuaar around Kobali Prime. Natalia herself played roles in the fighting on the ground as a sniper, her service elevating her to Commander. The Repulse was boarded and forced to self-destruct. Natalia was wounded in the evacuation due to breaking protocol to save her cat which has been with her since joining the Laffey crew.

The enigmatic Iconians emerged once again to bring war to the galaxy. Commander Natalia now serves as chief of security and first officer of the USS Protector, a Jupiter-class support carrier. The Protector engaged Herald and Elachi ships on numerous skirmishes, and was finally disabled in one ambush. The Captain was killed and Natalia coordinated a last stand that drove out boarders by causing a hull breach and a false self-destruct sequence.

Now Acting Captain of the Protector, it was repaired and took part in the final last stand of the Alliance in the Sol System. The Protector suffered severe damage and was in danger of being destroyed when Natalia began evacuation protocols, making peace with a decision to flying the carrier into the Iconian flagship.

A cease fire is declared before Natalia could go through with it.

Neither Natalia or the USS Protector participated in this conflict as the ship was undergoing extensive repairs and refitting while Natalia was in therapy with PTSD.

After the Iconian War, Natalia retained her commission as the Protector's captain while Starfleet recovers from the loses. During this time, the Protector was repaired and refitted to become a fleet carrier, boosting its capabilities to withstand sustained assaults. It's been planned that when Starfleet has more commissioned officers, Natalia will be removed from command due to still being too young and inexperienced to commander a starship.

The Protector was at Deep Space 9 when the Hur'q arrived, flinging the Federation once more into a fight. Still reeling from the Iconian War, she was once more called to action. The Protector served with distinction up until the final battle at the Dominion homeworld when Natalia was nearly killed in action. More doubts to her ability to lead left her on leave while the Protector is placed on reserve until a new captain is chosen.
